Technician arrival. The technician calls about 20 minutes before arriving. Park on a flat, level surface with room to open all four doors and walk around the vehicle. Shade is better during Atlanta summers; direct sun heats the windshield and can affect adhesive cure rates.
Removal. Cold-knife tools cut through the existing urethane bond. Trim pieces, wipers, and cowl covers come off first and go back on after the new glass is seated. We do not use pry bars; they damage the pinch weld and weaken the next bond.
Frame preparation. Old adhesive is trimmed to a consistent height. Any exposed bare metal gets rust inhibitor. Primer goes on the pinch weld and on the bonding surface of the new windshield.
