What type of damage do you see?

The Nissan Sentra sits in Nissan’s lineup as the practical choice: a compact, affordable sedan aimed at first-time buyers, urban commuters, and anyone who wants reliable transportation without the price tag of the Altima or Maxima. The windshield reflects that positioning. The glass itself is priced accessibly, OEE alternatives are plentiful, and replacement is straightforward on older base models.

The newer Sentra changed the picture somewhat. The car went through a complete redesign for 2020 on the B18 platform, and Safety Shield 360 became standard on the SR trim and optional on the SV. That means a forward-facing camera behind the windshield handling forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warning, and high beam assist. That camera needs recalibration after any windshield replacement, the same as it does on the Altima or any other camera-equipped Nissan.

At Midtown Glass Atlanta, we handle Sentra windshields from every model year at our shop at 510 Glen Iris Dr NE. The job looks different depending on your Sentra’s year and trim, and we will tell you exactly what yours needs before any work starts. Call (404) 873-6991 for a same-day appointment.

Sentra windshield specs by generation

Pre-2020 Sentra (B17, 2013 to 2019). Earlier Sentras used conventional laminated safety glass without an acoustic interlayer on base trims. Some higher-trim B17 models included a rain sensor. No forward camera appeared on any B17 production Sentra. These windshields are high-volume, widely stocked, and among the most affordable replacements in the compact segment. Repair is usually the first recommendation for any chip under an inch that qualifies.

2020-present Sentra (B18). The redesign brought a sharper roofline, which changed the windshield’s rake and curvature profile compared to the outgoing model. More significantly, Safety Shield 360 arrived with the new generation. SR trims have it standard. SV buyers often opt into it as part of a technology package. The base S trim runs without the camera system. We check your VIN before scheduling to confirm exactly what your Sentra has, because the camera presence determines whether calibration is part of your service.

Safety Shield 360 calibration on the Sentra

Safety Shield 360 on the Sentra uses a forward-facing mono camera at the top of the windshield, the same basic architecture as on the Altima but integrated as a more focused package. The camera handles forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, and high beam assist. It does not include the lane centering of ProPILOT Assist, but the calibration requirement after glass replacement is the same.

We use a static target board placed at a specific distance and position in front of the car, connect to the vehicle through the OBD2 port, and run the calibration sequence. The camera verifies it can read the target correctly and resets its reference data. The procedure typically adds 30 to 40 minutes to the total job time after cure.

One thing worth knowing: skipping calibration on a camera-equipped Sentra does not always produce obvious symptoms immediately. The car may drive and warn normally, but subtle drift in the camera’s reference point can make forward collision thresholds less accurate or cause false lane departure warnings. We do not hand back a vehicle without verifying the calibration result.

Chip repair on a Sentra: when it makes sense

The Sentra’s glass surface area is smaller than larger sedans, which makes chips somewhat easier to evaluate. A chip under a dollar coin in diameter, outside the camera zone, and not at the windshield edge is a good repair candidate.

Our process: we use a vacuum tool to clear debris from the break, then a vacuum-pull injection system to draw resin into the void under controlled pressure. Once the resin fills the chip, UV curing hardens it in place. A polish pass restores surface clarity. Total time for one chip is about 20 to 25 minutes.

For Sentras without Safety Shield 360 (base S trims and pre-2020 models), chip repair is generally the right call for anything under an inch that is not in the driver’s direct view. For camera-equipped trims, we check whether the chip falls inside the camera’s field of view before recommending repair or replacement. We will not recommend a repair that leaves distorted glass in a spot the camera depends on.

OEE glass availability for the Sentra

The Sentra is one of the easiest vehicles for aftermarket glass supply. High production volume means OEE glass from Pilkington, AGC, Xinyi, and other manufacturers is widely available for every Sentra generation. These meet ANSI Z26.1 safety standards and are accepted by every major insurer.

For camera-equipped 2020-and-later Sentras, we verify that the glass includes the correct mounting provisions for the camera bracket and any rain sensor hardware. The bracket attaches to the inner surface of the glass at a precise location; the wrong glass profile can prevent a proper mount. We use verified, fitment-checked OEE glass rather than sourcing from unvetted suppliers.

What a Sentra windshield replacement costs in Atlanta

Pre-2020 Sentra windshield replacement runs $195 to $285 for glass and installation, making it one of the more affordable jobs in the shop. A 2020-or-later Sentra with Safety Shield 360 costs $245 to $345 for glass and installation, with camera calibration adding $125 to $170.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 2020 or newer Nissan Sentra windshield replacement cost?

With Safety Shield 360 calibration, plan for $370 to $515 total. Glass and labor alone runs $245 to $345. Camera calibration adds $125 to $170 depending on the specific Sentra trim and what the procedure requires. Call or use the instant quote for a number specific to your car.

Does my Sentra need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?

It depends on your trim. SR trim Sentras have Safety Shield 360 as standard equipment. SV often has it as an option. Base S trims do not have the forward camera. We check your VIN before scheduling to confirm what your car has. If the camera is present, calibration is required.

Can I repair a chip in my Sentra windshield?

Yes, in most cases where the chip is small, outside the camera zone, and not at the glass edge. Repair takes about 20 to 25 minutes and costs far less than replacement. We evaluate every chip honestly before recommending a path. If repair will leave distortion near the camera, we will say so.

How do I know if my Sentra has Safety Shield 360?

Check your owner’s manual or the driver information display under settings. You can also call us with your VIN at (404) 873-6991 and we will pull the details before you schedule anything.

Do you carry Sentra windshields in stock?

Yes. High-volume vehicles like the Sentra are stocked at our Midtown shop for most common years. Same-day service is available in most cases. Call in the morning and we can typically complete the job that afternoon.
